How it Works

The Basics

How it Works: 4 Flowcharts ( How it Works: the Details )

Donations

Steps:

A donation of $5 or $10 shows up on the pledger’s cell phone bill. The mobile carrier remits 100% of the donation to the Mobile Giving Foundation. The Mobile Giving Foundation forwards 100% of the donation to the charity.

Text Message Content

Steps:

Pledger sees call to action and texts your keyword to a short-code. This text is received by the Mobile Giving Foundation. Pledger receives a text asking him or her to confirm their donation. Pledger texts back ‘YES’. Pledger receives a text thanking them for their donation. Pledger is sent a text asking him or her to opt in to receive future texts from you organization. Pledger texts back ‘YES’. Give by Cell communicates the content of these texts, controlled by your organization from your personal admin page, to the Mobile Giving Foundation. In the future, when you wish to communicate with past donors, you can initiate a text message through the Give by Cell admin site. This can convey news and/or ask for another pledge. The Mobile Giving Foundation sends these texts to those donors who have opted in, keeping them in touch with your organization and upcoming events.

How it Works: the Details ( How it Works: 4 Flowcharts )

Step 1:
Get Approved

Each campaign must adhere to the Mobile Giving Foundation rules summarized on this page. Once your application is completed and approved, your campaign is ready to go.

Step 3:
Donors text in

Give your potential donors a designated code to text in using their cell phone. They will be asked to confirm their donation of either $5 or $10 amount. It’s as simple as that.

Step 5:
Follow-up requests

We will send a follow-up ‘thank you’ text to your donors. You can ask donors if they would like to donate again (e.g. set up a monthly donation request.) You can have additional messages sent throughout the month.

Step 2:
Design Campaign

Design the campaign to reach potential donors. Communicate through signage, brochures, speeches or however you choose. Everyone in your venue, at your event or on your mailing list becomes a potential donor.

Step 4:
Carriers Bills + Collect

Donor pledges will be billed through their monthly cell phone bill. When the bill is paid to their telephone company the funds are forwarded to the Mobile Giving Foundation, who will then send them to you. Give by Cell never comes in contact with the funds.

Step 6:
See Results

You can monitor the success of your campaign on our website, where your daily results are posted. Check the results, learn what is working, and identify your donors by name, phone number and email. Of course, our customer service is at your disposal seven days a week
